SOA Watch Spring Event and Lobby Days
Start Time: Saturday, 17 April 2010 at 18:30
End Time: Monday, 19 April 2010 at 17:00
Location: Washington, DC
Hold your Member of Congress accountable and speak out for justice and human rights.
The SOA Watch Spring Event and Lobby Days will kick-off on Saturday, April 17 at 6:30 pm with a social gathering. This will be a chance for SOA Watch activists to get to know each other.
On Sunday, April 18, there’ll be an anti-racism training in the morning, a teach-in in the afternoon and a panel in the evening. The teach-in and the panel will draw the connections between the School of the Americas, torture, immigration and the seven bases in Colombia at which the Pentagon is planning to deploy U.S. soldiers. A grassroots lobby training to equip us with the tools necessary to get our message across to close the SOA, and a gathering for young organizers will be part of the day as well.
Visit http://www.SOAW.org for a schedule of events.
Lobbying on Capitol Hill will take place on Monday, April 19. After a brief gathering and a short rally at the Capitol South Metro Station from 7:30am – 9:30am, we’ll flood the halls of Congress with justice. Set up meetings with your Representatives and Senators now. Call Pam Bowman at (202) 234 3440 for assistance or visit http://www.SOAW.org/legislative for more information.
