Spring fever at Pireos St venue

April comes with a rich program of events at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, ranging from a new film festival to dance, puppet theater and more.
To begin with, «Puppet Theater Nights» is getting an extension. Aimed at adults rather than children, performances take place on Thursday nights from April 8 to April 29, featuring alternating productions by various troupes. Among them are Pavlos Kavvadias’s Baruti company presenting «Moments of Love – The Little Mouse Who Wanted to Play Accordion,» the Ayusaya puppet theater staging «Fasoulis: Story of Love and Death,» the ParaMana company presenting «The Girl Who Wanted to Touch the Crescent Moon» and Prassein Aloga staging «The Girl who Demanded Just a Simple Needle.»
Premiering on the foundation’s second underground parking level is a site-specific performance by the Fresh Target Theater. Titled «New World Order,» the production is a compilation of three one-act plays by Harold Pinter («The New World Order,» «One for the Road» and «Press Conference»), translated by Errikos Belies and directed by Paris Erotokritou. The same space will host works by prominent Greek and foreign artists from April 8 to May 9. The works will serve as a structural element of the performance.
Dance ensemble Ki Omos Kinitai will present its most recent work, «Purgatorio,» choreographed by Christina Sougioultzi, Hermes Malkotsis and Camilo Bentancor, from April 16 to 20.
Also beginning on April 16 is the Chainfree Film Festival 2010, which is being organized in collaboration with the Greek Network of Independent Cinematographers. Participating in the event are 13 young directors presenting 19 short and two full-length feature films shot in the last decade.
