Fernando Varela One of our favorite singers performing in Florida

Hear the songs of the “Puerto Rican Pavarotti” at the following link. His voice is surprisingly wonderful.

Fernando Varela
Who: Fernando Varela
When: Fri Apr 23 2010 @ 08:00 PM
Where: The Plaza Theatre, Orlando, FL
Details: The Plaza Theatre and Mascioli Entertainment Corporation are pleased to present Fernando Varela – A Tribute to Pavarotti and Other Great Tenors in concert on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 8:00pm. After numerous guest appearances ranging from singing the national anthem for the Orlando Magic, to a feature role with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra on April 3, 2010, Varela will perform his first solo concert in Orlando on this occasion. Singing a variety of music spanning the genres of the great tenors, from Mario Lanza and Josh Groban to Roy Orbison and Frank Sinatra, Varela’s voice stylings have appeal for lovers of cross-over music and opera buffs, alike, and are deeply embedded in his rich Latin roots. After entertaining audiences in twenty-six countries to rave reviews and garnering comparisons to tenor greats such as Bocelli, Lanza and Pavarotti, Fernando Varela is finally coming home to Orlando for this long overdue debut concert performance. While in his senior year at Bishop Moore High School in Orlando, Fernando was recruited into the Central Florida Lyric Opera and in 2001, after working with Madame Licia Albanese of the Metropolitan Opera; she commented “at 20 years old, he is better than Pavarotti at that age”. He went on to study in Monte Carlo, Monaco with Maestro Giancarlo Chiaramello, conductor for the late Luciano Pavarotti, who said to Fernando “I have heard very few voices like yours”. And Puerto Rico’s leading newspaper, El Nuevo Dia, summed it up by saying “Fernando Varela: a Puerto Rican Pavarotti”. Tickets for Fernando Varela – A Tribute to Pavarotti and Other Great Tenors in concert are available at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets.
