L Train Weekend Service Split, Delayed Due To Fencing Upgrade

This Weekend, The L Train running from 14 Street Manhattan to Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn will have an abridged service this upcoming weekend.

Starting this weekend, there will be service disruptions on the L line due to the Canarsie Yard Fencing Upgrade.

The work will take place from 6 a.m. on Saturdays to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

During that time, the L will operate in two sections: Between 8th Avenue and Broadway Junction and Between Broadway Junction and Rockaway Parkway. It will occur every 24 minutes.

These are the dates for the diversions; July 9-10, July 23-24, July 30-31, August 6-7, August 13-14 and September 24-25.

The MTA has announced the existing fence is being replaced with new security perimeter fencing. This new fencing is designed to be more difficult to cut or climb, thus providing increased protection against vandalism and other unauthorized activities.
